SUCO is an international development organization based in Montreal since 1961. It brings together people, knowledge, and resources to strengthen the autonomy of individuals, organizations, and communities.

SUCO supports communities in improving their social, economic, and environmental conditions by building, together with them, sustainable food systems and greater climate resilience. Across all its activities, SUCO ensures that the realities and needs of women are taken into account and that they fully participate in decision-making. Currently, SUCO operates in Canada and in 10 countries in West Africa and Latin America.

Group-Time-to-act

SUCO supports social change for inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development. These changes are complex and large in scale and cannot be achieved alone! That’s why we mobilize a vast network of change-makers in Canada and internationally, allowing citizens to engage positively and concretely to transform society and drive a just and sustainable ecological transition at individual, collective, and structural levels.

We work on three main areas:

Climate Change Resilience

Improving the capacity of communities exposed to climate change to adapt.

Women’s Rights and Participation

Addressing the realities of women and co-creating solutions with them.

Sustainable Food Systems

Supporting farmers in implementing sustainable solutions that allow them to produce better and more.

VOICES OF COMMITMENT

Name of VCO

This process taught me, on one hand, to admire and further value the noble work of farmers in cultivating the land and producing food rich in natural resources and rooted in centuries-old traditions; and on the other hand, it taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience in the face of climate change, which is also an opportunity to safeguard agrobiodiversity and ancestral wisdom

A rewarding experience both personally and professionally that I would recommend to anyone interested in international development issues and eager to help address the resulting challenges. I was delighted to discover the diversity of profiles and backgrounds of people committed to social development and to gain access to a broader network of individuals driven by the same ideals as me
